If you are wondering where we have been on nest counts on Hunting Island, look at this picture. The beach is still on an upward longer term trend. That is great!!! Conservation efforts work!!!

Hoping for an awesome turtle season! Glad to have you all with us on the beach this year!
For all the new volunteers out there, if you wondering when we will get our first nest....?
We have data going back to 1981. The earliest recorded nest was on May 3rd, and latest was on May 26th. The “average” is around May 10th or so. Why the big range and what drives this. Wish I knew, but we are getting close.
Looking forward to a great season!! Anything has to be better than last year's tough conditions. Come one loggerheads - the air temp is getting to where you like it.
